The group trying to bring labor unions to Amazon, aptly named the Amazon Labor Union, is recuperating after workers in upstate New York voted overwhelmingly to reject unionization. The facility is in the town of Schodack, and according to Unionstats.com, it’s one of the most unionized metro areas in the country.

The strong union numbers didn’t help the ALU, though. Workers at the Amazon facility voted nearly 2-1 Tuesday against the labor union. It’s a stinging defeat for the fledgling group, which consists of current and former Amazon employees.

The ALU had a historic win earlier this year at a facility on Staten Island, but so far has been unable to repeat, or really capitalize, on that early success. After that first win, the ALU lost an election at a neighboring Staten Island facility and the results of a union election in Alabama are still caught up in legal proceedings.

There is one facility in California, though, where workers did just file to hold a vote on whether to join the ALU.
