Air Force One touched down in Geneva, Switzerland Tuesday, as President Joe Biden prepares for his meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin.
Expected topics of discussion at the meeting include cyberattacks, election interference efforts, and human rights abuses in Russia.
President Biden has repeatedly pressed President Putin to take action against Russian-based cyberattacks since Biden took office in January.
Those calls have only grown louder following the recent attacks of Colonial pipeline and JBS.
Biden also expressed his opposition to the imprisonment of Russian opposition leader Alexei Navalny.
While both Biden and Putin have described the U.S.-Russia relationship as being at an all-time low, Biden said he hopes to find areas of common ground between the two nations.
The Biden/Putin meeting wraps up Biden’s first overseas trip as President. The trip included last week’s G-7 summit, Monday’s NATO summit, and Tuesday’s U.S.-EU summit.
On Tuesday, Biden helped preside over an agreement easing a long-running U.S. trade dispute with Europe.
