Phil Henderson will lead the first all-Black team as it attempts to climb Mount Everest, the world’s tallest mountain, next year. The team needs to prepare for mental and physical challenges, like major altitude changes it will face in Nepal and Tibet.

Henderson and his team also want to encourage diversity and Black representation in the outdoor sports world.

“We are used to that weight,” Henderson said, referencing the pressure his team feels to succeed. “It’s like we always have something to prove.”

THEIR HOPE IS TO ENCOURAGE DIVERSITY IN ALL OUTDOOR ACTIVITIES.
