FULL INTERVIEW: An inside look at the search and rescue efforts in Miami

By Gwen Baumgardner (Reporter)

A 2018 engineering report warned of “major structural damage” to the building that collapsed near Miami. It’s unclear whether that caused it.

The wait for word on nearly 160 people still unaccounted for is taking a toll on loved ones who can do little but pray and hope.

Search and rescue missions will continue in Miami. Gwen Baumgardner spoke with Ignacio Alvarez, a former major with the Miami-Dade Police Department, about the collapse, as well as what to expect with both this rescue mission and future investigations.
