Sesame Street introduces a new family with two gay dads

After 51 years on air, Sesame Street introduced a new family on the show. Frank, Dave and Mia represent the LGBTQ community with two gay dads and a daughter. The show addresses social issues like addiction, discrimination and autism.

THEY CAME TO SUNNY STREET ON A FAMILY VISIT TO SEE NINA, DAVE’S SISTER.

THE SHOW HAS BEEN KNOWN FOR ADDRESSING SOCIAL ISSUES 

LIKE RACE,AUTISM AND ADDICTION. 

EARLIER THIS YEAR, THE SHOW INTRODUCED AFRICAN AMERICAN MUPPETS.

BUT ALAN MURAOKA, ACTOR AND CO DIRECTOR SAID THERE’S BEEN A LACK OF REPRESENTATION FROM THE LGBTQ COMMUNITY.

THE NEW FAMILY  RECEIVED MIXED RESPONSES ON SOCIAL MEDIA 

SOME PEOPLE CELEBRATED THE NEW ADDITIONS WHILE OTHERS QUESTIONS IF THE SHOW SHOULD DISCUSS SOCIAL ISSUES WITH CHILDREN.
