Annie Andersen: That message is one of more than a thousand angry calls longtime Michigan Republican Fred Upton has received this week.
Unknown caller <<”I hope you die. I hope your f-ing family dies, I hope everybody in your f-ing staff dies. Piece of f-ing s*** traitor.”>>
Annie Andersen: Upton told his local newspaper the calls started after his fellow republican, Marjorie Taylor Greene from Georgia sent out this tweet… with the phone numbers of the 13 republicans who voted in favor of the bipartisan infrastructure package.
Rep. Fred Upton: <<”Be glad to defend that vote. Been working since last spring on a bipartisan bill. This is.. I think that caller might have been from South Carolina. His own senator, Lindsey Graham, couldn’t find a closer confidant to President Trump last four years. Lindsey Graham voted for it..”>>
Annie Andersen: Upton is far from alone- other lawmakers say they’ve also received calls following her tweet.
But at least one is fighting back… a source telling politico that one of the 13 went and had calls rerouted to Marjorie Taylor Greene’s office.
These threats against members are nothing new.
In October Capitol Police told the AP they have never had the level of threats against members of Congress that we’re seeing today,”
