Too soon to celebrate? Biden boasts about economy, GOP leader says not so fast

By Annie Andersen (Political Producer)

A new CBS News poll shows that 58% of people surveyed say they approve of President Joe Biden’s overall job performance.

While 58% may seem low, it’s not when it comes to approval ratings.

Real Clear Politics calculated that President Trump’s annual approval rating capped out at about 44 percent. President Obama’s topped at about 57%. Even after the September 11 attacks, President George W. Bush’s annual rating only got to about 70%.

Six months into my administration, this economy has experienced the highest economic growth rate in nearly 40 years,” said Biden.

However, House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy doesn’t agree.Just before Biden’s remarks, the Republican from Bakersfield, CA tweeted:

Annie Andersen: CAN I TELL YOU GUYS, IF I HAD EVER COME HOME WITH A GRADE OF 58%, MY PARENTS WOULD HAVE KILLED ME.

I MEAN 58% IS AN F!

BUT HERE IN THE LAND OF POLITICS… THAT SCORE IS REASON TO PARTY.

A BRAND NEW CBS POLL HAS PRESIDENT BIDEN’S OVERALL JOB RATING AT 58%

WHAT’S IN A NUMBER? HERE ARE SOME REFERENCE POINTS:

REAL CLEAR POLITICS CALCULATED THAT PRESIDENT TRUMP’S ANNUAL APPROVAL RATING CAPPED OUT AT ABOUT 44 PERCENT.

PRESIDENT OBAMA NEVER TOPPED 56 PERCENT

EVEN AFTER THE SEPTEMBER 11 ATTACKS, PRESIDENT BUSH’S ONLY HIT ABOUT 70 PERCENT.

BACK TO PRESIDENT BIDEN.

HE IS SEEMINGLY VERY PROUD OF HIS 58% APPROVAL RATING — APPLAUDING HIMSELF AT THIS news CONFERENCE.

President Joe Biden: ”Six months into my administration this economy has experienced the highest economic growth rate in nearly 40 years.”

HE CREDITS – JOBS, VACCINATION RATES  AND SAID EVEN INFLATION RATES ARE PART OF THE RECOVERY PROCESS.

THAT’S RIGHT – INFLATION.

Biden: ”WE’VE SEEN SOME PRICE INCREASES – AND SOME PEOPLE HAVE SEEN THIS AS A SIGN OF PERSISTENT SAY  INFLATION. BUT THATS NOT OUR VIEW.” Biden: “Our experts believe and the data shows were expected and are expected to be temporary.”

As demand returns, there is going to be global supply chain challenges.”

TRY TELLING THAT TO  MINORITY LEADER KEVIN MCCARTHY. HERE’S WHAT HE  TWEETED JUST BEFORE PRESIDENT BIDEN’S REMARKS. “Prices on everything from gas to groceries are skyrocketing. Inflation is hitting hard-working middle-class families the hardest. A key driver of these price increases and increased costs of living is crystal clear → massive increases in government spending by the Democrats.”

WHAT DO YOU THINK ABOUT BIDEN’S APPROVAL RATING ?  HOW CONCERNED ARE YOU ABOUT INFLATION.
