President Joe Biden celebrated Friday’s strong monthly jobs report, saying the U.S. economy is ‘on the move’.

“This is historic progress, pulling our economy out of the worst crisis in 100 years, driven in part by our dramatic progress in vaccinating our nation and beating back the pandemic as well as other elements of the American Rescue plan,” Biden said in remarks at the White House.

The June jobs report shows America’s employers added 850,000 jobs last month.

It is the latest sign the reopening of the economy is propelling a powerful rebound from the pandemic recession.

Jobs are still down from pre-pandemic numbers at about 70%. Economists expect a more complete recovery by next summer.
