The White House has announced more Russia-related sanctions will be coming. NATO, the European Union, and G7 countries are expected to announce the new sanctions during the upcoming NATO summit in Brussels, Belgium.

“One of the key elements of that announcement will focus not just on adding new sanctions, but on ensuring that there is joint effort to crack down on evasion, on sanctions busting, on any attempt by any country to help Russia basically undermine, weaken, or get around the sanctions,” White House National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan said. “That is an important part of this next phase.”

According to the Wall Street Journal, about 400 individuals will be sanctioned in the upcoming package, including more than 300 members of Russia’s Duma (its version of the House of Representatives).

President Biden is also expected to address European reliance on Russian energy.

“He will announce joint action on enhancing European energy security and reducing Europe’s dependence on Russian gas at long last,” Sullivan said.

In March, the White House banned Russian oil, but Europe has not.

Biden will leave for Brussels Wednesday afternoon, going immediately to a meeting with Belgium’s Prime Minister Alexander De Croo.

Annie Andersen: BIDEN IS ALSO EXPECTED TO ADDRESS EUROPE’S RELIANCE ON RUSSIAN OIL DURING HIS TRIP.

THE U-S HAS BANNED RUSSIAN ENERGY.. BUT EUROPE HAS NOT.

THAT COULD CHANGE…
