If we’re lucky, AOC and the Squad are on their way out
The Squad, comprised of eight left-wing House Democrats, has been openly critical of Israel both before and during Israel’s war with Hamas. As primaries approach, some of these House members are facing challenging political races. Straight Arrow News contributor Matthew Continetti delves into the backlash against the Squad and hopes its members will face a…

All bets are off in a Biden-Trump rematch
As the presidential primaries unfold, a Trump-Biden rematch in November appears increasingly likely. History suggests a smooth path to victory for incumbents like Joe Biden, but the scenario becomes far less predictable when that incumbent is running against another former president like Donald Trump. Straight Arrow News contributor Matthew Continetti highlights the rarity of a…

If America cuts off Ukraine aid, Putin will never stop aggression
The U.S. Senate is not expected to vote on a package for increased aid to Ukraine until early next year. Since the start of Russia’s full-scale invasion in February 2022, the United States has granted a total of $111 billion in aid to Ukraine, including a minimum of $45 billion allocated for military assistance. The…

Appalling silence on college campuses in the face of antisemitism
The Israel-Hamas war has raised tensions on U.S. college campuses, dividing students, faculty, and administrators alike. Campus protests, as well as hate crimes against both Jewish and Muslim victims, have all increased since Hamas’ Oct. 7 attack. Straight Arrow News contributor Matthew Continetti accuses university administrations of ignoring Hamas’ brutal attack on Israel and of…

GOP might be disappointed after key Virginia, Kentucky elections
Incumbent Gov. Andy Beshear (D) and Attorney General Daniel Cameron (R) are facing off in November in Kentucky’s gubernatorial election. This race will serve as a significant test to determine if a Democratic incumbent can secure victory in a deeply conservative state. Meanwhile, Virginia will hold elections for seats in both houses of the state’s General Assembly, potentially…

Biden’s declining popularity began in Afghanistan
In February, 2020, the United States and the Taliban agreed to a ceasefire requiring the U.S. and NATO allies to withdraw all forces from Afghanistan no later than May, 2021. The United States completed the withdrawal of forces on roughly that schedule, evacuating the last U.S. troops in August, 2021. The Afghan national government folded…

‘Bidenomics’ falls short in addressing America’s economic woes
According to a CNBC survey, President Biden’s economic approval rating stands at 37%, which marks a 3% improvement from the prior survey in April. Though a handful of Biden’s policies may have benefitted some working-class Americans, many of the Democrat voters he needs to win in 2024 cite inflation and higher interest rates as major…

Biden’s lukewarm campaign rollout is sign of problems ahead
After months of speculation, President Joe Biden confirmed what most everyone predicted: he’s running for president in 2024. In his video announcement, Biden warned voters that their fundamental rights could be threatened by another Trump presidency. But Biden faces his own obstacles to a presidential win, starting with his age. Straight Arrow News contributor Matthew…

GOP needs suburban voters in 2024 election
On April 4, 2023, Janet Protasiewicz, a liberal Democrat, won a seat on Wisconsin’s Supreme Court after trouncing her conservative opponent, Daniel Kelly, in the most expensive state judicial race in American history. Her double digit win made national headlines and was seen as a referendum on abortion rights, a centerpiece of her campaign. As…

Biden and Powell top inflation gaffe with an emergency gift to banks
With seven interest rate increases last year, two so far in 2023, and two U.S. bank failures, the U.S. is still not currently in a recession. President Joe Biden continues to claim progress on the labor market and is counting on Fed Chairman Jerome Powell to strike the right balance on jobs and inflation to…

The GOP needs quality candidates to retake the Senate
Republicans are eyeing 2024 as their chance to regain control of the Senate. Nearly three dozen seats will be on the ballot next year, including several with Democratic incumbents who are considered vulnerable. Republicans only need a net gain of two seats to take control of the chamber. However, the disappointing results of the 2022…

DeSantis is on a roll with his ‘anti-wokeism’ message
Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis (R) is grabbing a lot of headlines these days. He’s contested COVID-era lockdowns and sent immigrants to Martha’s Vineyard. Now he’s trying to ban an AP course in Black history and beefing up a culture-war parenting bill. And it seems to be paying off. In an average of head-to-head polls taken since…

Biden must embrace a stronger strategy to take on Iran
Team USA may have scored a huge victory over Iran in the World Cup, but the Middle East nation remains a major adversary on the geopolitical stage. Iran’s rulers have executed hundreds of its own citizens for protesting the regime’s oppressive tactics, sold drones to Russia to use in its ongoing war effort against Ukraine,…

America ready to end affirmative action for colleges
The last time the Supreme Court ruled in favor of allowing race to be considered in higher education admissions was back in 2016 when liberal Justices Anthony Kennedy and Ruth Bader Ginsburg sat on the Court. This year, the much more conservative Supreme Court heard two cases accusing Harvard and the University of North Carolina…
